Independent maturers of rum and whisky
Kristensson Spirits AB is an independent Swedish maturer of rum and whisky. We select newly distilled and aged spirits with a distinct character of their own and let them develop further in our own casks.
We are not a distillery. Our work begins where distillation ends – in the meeting between the spirit, the cask and time. By combining different spirits with everything from classic sherry and port casks to more unusual casks that once held cognac, armagnac, calvados and fruit brandy, we look for expressions that are full-bodied, personal and hard to find in the ordinary range.
Our focus is spirit with more flavour and a higher strength, with no added flavourings or colour. Each cask is its own project, and each combination is allowed to develop on its own terms.
The first casks were filled in 2022. Nothing is bottled yet, but under Cask Projects you can follow what we are working on, and in News we share more about the journey towards the first releases.
Rum
From lighter, sugarcane-based column rum to powerful Jamaican pot still rum. We work with spirits from several different origins and look for casks that both preserve the rum’s own character and add new layers of flavour.
Whisky
Malt whisky as new make and selected aged spirits mature further in casks with entirely different backgrounds. The aim is whisky with depth, body and a clear relationship between spirit and cask.
Own casks
Sherry, port, madeira and cognac sit alongside more unusual casks that once held, for example, calvados, apricot brandy and maple syrup. Each combination is chosen to create its own expression – not to follow a set template.
No additives
We want the character to come from the spirit, the cask and time. That is why we work without added flavourings or colour, with a focus on flavourful expressions at higher strength.
